Larry Simons Leads Practical Panel at NACBA 2025

At this year’s NACBA 2025 conference, attendees seeking a deeper understanding of the bankruptcy process will want to mark their calendars for an essential session: Newbie/Paralegal Session Part 4 – 341 Meetings, Post Filings, Redemption, Trustee Compliance, led by seasoned bankruptcy attorney and Chapter 7 Trustee Larry Simons.

A Trustee’s Perspective—Shared with Approachability

In this highly approachable and interactive session, Larry Simons invites new attorneys and paralegals into the practical world of Chapter 7 bankruptcy through the lens of a trustee. With over a decade of experience serving as a Chapter 7 Trustee in the Riverside Division of the Central District of California, Larry brings both authority and accessibility to the conversation. He offers attendees a unique, behind-the-scenes look into what the trustee actually does in a bankruptcy case—insight that many legal professionals never gain until much later in their careers.

Rather than relying on legalese or dense theory, Larry’s discussion is structured as an informal “chat” where attendees are encouraged to engage, ask questions, and walk away with practical knowledge. Topics include what questions are typically asked at the meeting of creditors (commonly referred to as the 341 meeting), which documents are needed after filing, what “redemption” really means in practice, and what trustees require to close a case efficiently. It’s a hands-on session designed to remove mystery and build confidence in navigating the core mechanics of bankruptcy procedure.

Trusted Leader and Educator in the Bankruptcy Field

Larry’s credibility in this space is unmatched. As managing attorney of Janus Law, he has represented debtors, creditors, and trustees across a wide range of bankruptcy matters. He has been a Chapter 7 Trustee since 2011, served as President of the Inland Empire Bankruptcy Forum in 2023, and is a certified specialist in Bankruptcy Law by the State Bar of California. In addition to his legal work, Larry shares his expertise as a part-time lecturer at CSU Northridge.

“NACBA’s annual convention is the place where consumer bankruptcy professionals come together to grow,” said Larry. “I’m honored to be part of a session that helps demystify the trustee’s role and gives newer attorneys and paralegals the tools they need to feel confident and capable.”

Whether you’re new to bankruptcy law or looking to sharpen your procedural fluency, this session delivers both the insight and encouragement to move forward with confidence. With Larry’s approachable style and deep experience, attendees will leave feeling empowered, better informed, and ready to engage more effectively in the bankruptcy process.
