Larry D. Simons is a Certified Specialist in Bankruptcy Law by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization since 2004. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1995, and is also admitted to U.S. District Court, Southern, Central and Eastern Districts of California and U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit.

Larry is a member of the California Bar Association and the Bankruptcy Forum, and a member of the private panel of Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees for the Central District of California, Riverside Division. He is a former chair of the Bankruptcy Law Advisory Commission, which oversees the certification and recertification of legal specialists with the State Bar of California.

He received his B.A. in History in 1992 from California State University, Northridge and his J.D. from Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 1995. He was a Judicial Extern to Hon. David E. Russell, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of California, Sacramento, California. He was also a Judicial Law Clerk to Hon. Kathleen Thompson and Hon. Arthur Greenwald, United States Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California, Woodland Hills, California.

Larry has been selected as a “Rising Star,” Southern California Super Lawyers Magazine, in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 and as a “Top Attorney in Bankruptcy” for 2010 by Pasadena Magazine. He was selected as a Super Lawyer for 2012-2013, 2015-2017 and 2020-2021, an honor bestowed on less than 5% of all attorneys.

He has authored or co-authored numerous articles which can be found on the Blog section of this website. When he’s not helping Southern Californians with their finances, he enjoys cooking, gardening, travelling, spending time with his family and 2 dogs, and attending Dodger games.
